The Speaker of Parliament the Hon. Filimone Jitoko, will attend Samoa’s 64th Independence anniversary on behalf of the Prime Minister of Fiji the Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka.
This significant national event will bring together government leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, and the wider public to commemorate Samoa’s independence whilst reflecting on its continued growth and development.
The Speaker’s participation highlights the importance the Government of Fiji places on recognising key milestones within the Pacific region and reaffirms its commitment to shared values of unity, progress, and respect for sovereignty.
As part of the official programme, the Hon. Speaker will attend a Thanksgiving Church Service, the formal commemoration of Samoa’s 64th Independence anniversary, and the opening of three new offices of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa. The Hon. Speaker is also scheduled to attend other ceremonial engagements as part of the celebrations.
During this official visit, courtesy calls with leaders from the region and other dignitaries have also been arranged.
