Speaker meets with his counterpart from the National Assembly of Korea

The Speaker of the Fijian Parliament, Hon. Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu had a bilateral meeting this morning with his counterpart from the National Assembly of Korea, His Excellency Mr Kim Jinpyo.
The meeting was held at the Pearl Resort where Hon. Ratu Naiqama was attending the Parliament Secretariat Strategic Planning workshop over the past two days.
The Hon. Speaker took the opportunity to thank the Government of Korea for its continued support to the Fiji Parliament during the challenging times brought about by the pandemic.

This was evidenced in the formation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the two Parliaments and resulted in exchanged visit programmes for Members of Parliament and staff in the past years.
In response, H.E Jinpyo thanked Hon. Ratu Naiqama for taking the time to meet with his delegation noting his busy schedule.
He acknowledged the successful election that was held last year and his appointment as the Speaker, whom he said has a wealth of experience in the years he has been serving as a Member of Parliament, Leader of the Opposition, and now as the Speaker of the Fiji Parliament.
He requested the Fiji Parliament’s support for South Korea to host the World Expo 2030 to be held in Busan, South Korea.
At the end of their discussions, Hon. Ratu Naiqama wished H.E Jinpyo and his delegation well in their short visit to Fiji.
