A Twin Parliament Meeting was held between the Parliament of Victoria and its twinned partner Parliaments of Fiji, Naoero Parliament and Tuvalu on the margins of the 55th Presiding Officers and Clerks Conference (POCC) hosted by The Parliament of Western Australia in Perth.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the four partner legislatures to:
– Review progress made under their respective twinning arrangements.
– Share experiences, achievements and challenges in parliamentary development.
– Discuss ongoing and future capacity-building initiatives.
– Strengthen collaboration and institutional relationships among the participating parliaments.
– Explore opportunities for peer-to-peer learning, staff exchanges and technical cooperation.
The twinning partnerships, facilitated through regional parliamentary cooperation initiatives, continue to support the strengthening of parliamentary institutions through the exchange of knowledge, skills and best practices.
Representatives of the four parliaments reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strong partnerships and enhancing collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting underscored the value of parliamentary twinning as an effective mechanism for building institutional capacity, fostering professional networks and advancing good governance across the Pacific region.
