Speaker Hon. Filimone Jitoko paid a courtesy call on his counterpart from the American Samoa House of Representatives the Hon. Savali Talavou Ale today.
Discussions focused on regional co-operation and engagement through the Pacific Islands Parliamentary Association (PIPA) of which American Samoa is a member.
Both Speakers looked forward to the meeting to be held in Tahiti later this year as it will provide an important platform for Pacific legislatures to exchange experiences, strengthen collaboration, and advance shared parliamentary interests across the region.
The Speaker also highlighted the significance of people‑to‑people connections, noting the presence of a Fijian diaspora in American Samoa.
The contribution of Fijians living and working in American Samoa was acknowledged as an important link that further deepens bilateral relations and cultural ties.
Both leaders expressed their commitment to continued engagement and co-operation, particularly in advancing parliamentary diplomacy and regional unity in the Pacific.
