Speaker meets with USP Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council

Speaker Hon. Filimone Jitoko paid a courtesy call on the University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council, Mr Siosiua Utoikamanu.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss matters of regional importance, including institutional leadership, collaboration and capacity development.

Discussions also explored opportunities for closer co-operation between the Fijian Parliament and USP through knowledge sharing, training initiatives, and the possibility of formalising these opportunities.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of building regional expertise in public service training, policy analysis, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, with USP’s regional network seen as a valuable platform for supporting Pacific institutions and countries.
