Fijian Parliament delegation participates in 41st CPA Small Branches Conference

The Fijian Parliament delegation, led by Speaker the Hon. Filimone Jitoko, actively participated in the 41st Small Branches Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), held in conjunction with the 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (68CPC).
The Conference, themed “Shaping the Future for CPA Small Branches: Strengthening Parliamentary Independence and Capacity in Small Jurisdictions”, brought together parliamentarians and parliamentary staff from across the Commonwealth’s small jurisdictions.
Delegates engaged in robust discussions on the unique challenges faced by smaller parliaments, including limited resources, over-reliance on executive branches, and technological constraints.
Through a series of focused, rotating sessions, Speakers and Members of Parliament shared successful strategies, proposed innovative solutions, and collaboratively developed a practical roadmap aimed at enhancing the resilience and effectiveness of parliamentary institutions in small jurisdictions.
The CPA Small Branches network plays a vital role in identifying and addressing the specific needs of small jurisdictions, fostering cooperation, and supporting parliamentary development across the Commonwealth.
