Speaker of the Fijian Parliament the Hon. Filimone Jitoko, is currently leading an official delegation to the Parliament of Victoria as part of an ongoing inter-parliamentary partnership initiative. This visit is designed to foster legislative collaboration, exchange best practices in governance, and deepen the relationship between the two Parliaments.
The Fijian delegation has taken part in a series of high-level roundtable discussions with prominent stakeholders, including representatives from the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, the Co-Conveners of the Pathways to Politics Programme for Women, and the Commissioner of the Parliamentary Workplace Standards and Integrity Commission.
The programme also featured engagements with the Pacific Friendship Group and the Fijian Community Association Victoria Inc., emphasising the importance of community connections in reinforcing bilateral ties.
This official visit marks a significant milestone in the longstanding twin-parliament arrangement between Fiji and Victoria, underscoring both Parliaments’ shared commitment to transparent, inclusive, and innovative legislative practices.
The mission is fully supported by the Parliament of Victoria in conjunction with the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
