The Standing Select Committee on Sugar consists of twelve Members to be appointed by the Speaker after consultation with the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition. The Chairman shall be the Minister responsible for the sugar industry and in his absence the Committee shall elect its own Chairman.
The duty of this Committee is to advise the Minister responsible for the sugar industry generally in relation to all matters pertaining to the sugar industry, and in particular in relation to any act or function required to be done or fulfilled by the Committee under any written law relating to the said industry.
