JOB TITLE: COMMITTEES OFFICER – STANDING COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND DEFENCE

Duties

The appointee will report directly to the Senior Committee Clerk and will carry out the following duties:

  1. Provide administrative and research support for the effective and efficient functioning of the Standing
  2. Assist and support the Senior Committee Clerk in committee meetings, draft committee meeting minutes, drafting of committee reports, correspondences and other briefing

QUALIFICATION/COMPETENCIES/ KNOWLEDGE /EXPERIENCE

  1. Qualification

An Undergraduate Degree in Management & Public Administration, Business Administration or equivalent from a recognized institute with relevant work experience. Computing skill/literacy in computing and sound industry knowledge is preferred.

  1. Effective and efficient provision of administrative and logistical support for Standing Committee
  2. Active contribution to knowledge sharing and knowledge building initiatives for the Unit and organizational
  3. Implementation of committee activities in compliance with all regulatory

2. Knowledge and Experience

  1. At least 2-3 years’ work experience in the field administration, finance or in logistics;
  2. Sound understanding of the role of government ministries, government statutory authorities, regional and international agencies;
  3. Good understanding of government policies, National Development Plan, sustainable development goals and related international conventions and agreements;
  4. Good understanding of the Fijian Constitution and the role of the Fijian Parliament;
  5. Sound working knowledge of management theories and

  1. Organizational abilities and the ability to be impartial, confidential and to make firm decisions;
  2. Ability to supervise and motivate Unit staff to achieve the Legislature Divisions short, medium and long term goals;
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage demanding workload and tight deadline;
  4. Ability to effectively work within a team with people from diverse backgrounds and communicate with people at all levels and proven team leadership skills and abilities;
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including public relations skills;
  6. Service oriented approach and ability to develop, co-ordinate and maintain stakeholder relationships;
  7. A good working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

The successful applicant will be offered an attractive remuneration package which will be discussed during the interview.
