Youth group brought Christmas spirit to Parliament

Christmas carols reverberated throughout the Parliament complex and nearby buildings when the Naviti Methodist Circuit youths from Soso Village in the Yasawa Group took time out to visit Parliament this afternoon.

The 52-member group sang melodiously, attracting a crowd at the Parliament foyer who were drawn to the harmonious tunes sung by the islanders.

For the members of the group, this was the first-time ever they have visited Parliament.

Group head Reverend Taivesi Daunitutu said they left Yasawa yesterday with the hope of bringing the Christmas spirit to Parliament and some other places in the Capital City.

“We left Lautoka this morning and we stopped over at Naboro Corrections Facility where we sang some hymns, followed by a devotion and then to Korovou Women’s Corrections Centre,” he said.

“Our itinerary also included visiting Parliament and for us, being here is indeed a privilege. We are so glad and thankful for this opportunity.”

“This trip has been made possible through the contribution individually made by the members and also the kind sponsorship from Awesome Adventures.”

Government whip Hon. Ashneel Sudhakar and Opposition Leader Hon. Ro Temumu Kepa addressed the group and thanked them for bringing the wonders and joy of Christmas to Parliament.
